75 years ago, marked the end of World War II. Beginning in 1939 in Europe with the German invasion of Poland, it was the deadliest war with the loss of 72 million lives.

America’s involvement in this global conflict began with the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor and other sites across Oahu.

Nations across the world were involved in the war and split into two opposing military alliances — the Allies (Britain, U.S. and the Soviet Union as the major powers) and the Axis (Germany, Italy and Japan as the major powers).

The war in Europe ended in May of 1945. And the conflict that continued in the Pacific ended with the signing of the instrument of surrender on the decks of the USS Missouri in September 1945.

In this section of our website we offer links to educational sites for students, teachers and parents to learn more about WWII. We should learn from it so it shall never be forgotten.
